NIRSA 2021 Northwest Regionals

Soccer Clubs,

 

Washington State University in Pullman, WA is hosting the men’s and women’s NIRSA Region VI North Soccer Championship on October 29-31. We would love for your club to come join us at the tournament and below is all of the information for the event. We recommend getting on hotels soon as in our community hotels can go fast and the rates won’t last beyond October 15th. The men’s and women’s tournament winners will get a bid to the NIRSA National Championship Tournament in Foley, AL.

 

Registration

  • Teams can register for their spot here: https://www.imleagues.com/spa/sport/e26a783914e84b56aab371b6716f549e/home#sportimage
    • Once payment is received a team will move from pending to approved
  • Creating a Team
    • Log in to your IMLeagues.com account or create one at the top right of the website
    • Go to the drop-down on the top left of the screen that shows the networks you are a part of, and click “+Add Network”.
    • Select 2021 NIRSA Region VI North Soccer Regional and click join.
    • On the tournament homepage, the divisions will be displayed. Click on the one you wish to join (Men's, Women's) and fill out the information for your club.
    • Managers can invite members to their team by clicking the "Invite Members" link on the team page. Any invited members must accept the invitation to be joined to the team.
      • If the person has already registered on IMLeagues: search for their name, and invite them.
      • If the person has not yet registered on IMLeagues: scroll down to the "Invite by Email Address" box, and input their email address.
    • Teams do not have to pay the $475 entry at the time of registration. However, that register without paying will be listed as “pending” until the registration payment is made.
  • Payment can be taken care of at the links below or mailing a check addressed to WSU Competitive Sports to the address below. The cost for the tournament will be $475.

  • We have 3 hotels holding rooms until 10/15 and I recommend getting them booked as soon as possible

UCLA Women Club Head Coach Opening

The UCLA Competitive Sports Program, a component of UCLA Recreation, offers the campus community a wide variety of competition and recreational sport activities. Within Competitive Sports is our Club Sports Program, The Club Sports Program offers UCLA students, staff, and faculty a competitive alternative to Intramural sports, Instructional Programs, and Intercollegiate Athletics. Currently, approximately 2,000 members of the campus community participate in Club Sports.

Club Sport positions are a great opportunity for individuals interested in gaining more experience in coaching at the collegiate level. Volunteer Coach Positions are available and can hold the title of Head Coach or Assistant Coach depending on what the team needs. The Head Coach is to help in all aspects related to the planning, preparation, management, and implementation of a comprehensive collegiate club program.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement strategies for club practices.

  • Create training programs to keep athletes fit in-season and out of season

  • Analyze performance and instruct athletes in skills, techniques, and strategies in preparation for and during competition

  • Develop a clear structure along with the Club Officers that outlines how tryouts will be handled and what process you will follow to make cuts (if necessary)

  • Collaborate with other coaches and Club Officers in coordinating general administrative duties (including budgeting, fundraising, publicity, dues collection, etc.)

  • Work with Safety Officers and Athletic Training staff to report injuries of athletes and put them through the return to play protocol

  • Travel to all games and tournaments

  • Should be able to recognize a possible concussion (through provided trainings) and follow through with proper next steps of how of the departments concussion management protocol

  • Comply with specific league or governing body rules and regulations

  • Maintain a professional and positive presence in the sporting community

  • Attend all trainings as designated by the Competitive Sports Staff 

  • This position does have the ability to participate in professional development to develop their skills, but is determined by the team

  • Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience/training

  • 1-3 years of coaching experience (collegiate level preferred)

  • Excellent judgment, problem solving, planning, and organization skills

  • Knowledge of current various coaching techniques/strategies, including forward play

  • Coaching certification from sport governing body or professional association

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven record of competitive success at high school or collegiate level

  • Ability to administer a large program, including recruiting, scheduling, and practice plans

  • Ability to establish appropriate and effective mentoring relationships with student-athletes

  • CPR/First Aid certification

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the stages of student development and the importance of a holistic collegiate experience with focus on academic excellence

  • Comfort using email and social media channels

Salary & Benefits

This is a paid monthly position.
This position is not eligible for UC Benefits but does provide worker’s compensation coverage if you are injured during the course of employment while performing the duties of the position.

Mandated Reporter

Per the California Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act this position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter required to report the observed or suspected abuse or neglect of children, dependent adults, or elders to designated law enforcement or social service agencies. We reserve the right to make employment contingent upon completion of signed statements acknowledging the responsibilities of a Mandated Reporter

CoronaVirus Update

With the impact teams are experiencing with the CoronaVirus, we wanted to get you an update.  If you need to cancel your games, please just contact the league at azteccupsports@gmail.com and cc the opponent with a letter from our sports club director stating you cannot play.

We preferably to have this info 48 hours prior to kick off.

This should give teams enough time to adjust travel plans.   If you get this info less 48 hours, just contact all parties asap. 

We want everyone to be safe and appreciate your understanding in this difficult time.  If you have any questions, please just let us know.  

We also want you input on how to handle the season moving forward. IE cancellation, suspension of league, etc.  Here is the link
